So last night we had an event to get lots of old friends together in TF2 in the deFy server. I for one didn't know we still had a deFy server until last week.

It wasn't hard to fill the server when we started with like 12 people, lots of people came out; duder, effl, suxu, t8z5h3, dev, wrench, falcon, diplomat, nuc, AND FANG. I haven't seen fang in so long I didn't even have him on my friends list anymore. Good times had by all, we should do it again some time.

Sorry about bailing halfway through... my game got all choppy and weird and then Steam said I needed to validate my TF2 files and it said like 1500 didn't pass validation, so it had to pretty much re-download TF2. Boo. Apparently it's all good now though, but I need to replace that hard drive soon.

Let's do this again soon... it was quite worth the price of admission.

We got it pretty full on KOTH Nucleus for a while... I think we peaked at 8 on 8... which is fine for me. I had fun.

I already offered my MW2 services to drwh0 but I see he's trollin these board at this very minute and he was sad he missed the last get together... so...

I'm up for either. TF2 or MW2. I'm going to be playing something with deFy in ventrilo that ends in a 2.

The problem though wh0 is that if we play tf2 we'd be the only people in vent as apartment this mumble service is better. I see it as personal preference, vent has never caused me any issues (lag, performance, etc) and personally sounds better so I prefer it over mumble.

Never tried mumble. Too lazy to download it honestly.

I'd say it's biggest 'plus' for mumble over vent is that each user can set their own codec. So if you have awesome internet and a good PC you can pick a nice sounds, high quality codec but if your internet is lacking and your computer is from 2009 you can pick a lower quality codec so it doesn't use as many resources. Instead in vent the server picks the codec and everyone has to deal with it.

And ummm.. open source > license.

I just like vent more because that's what I have and use mainly it works good for me.

The big plus for me with Mumble is that it's zero lag and MUCH higher quality than Vent. I don't use push to talk anymore either, which is nice... I know it doesn't make a big difference, but not having to push the button to talk is a big deal for me, since I'm a big time snap aimer.

There are people who play FPS and don't twitch aim?

eFFl doesn't, he just holds down mouse 1 and runs at people.

My TF2 has fire bound to shift as well. Works well for heal gun.

I guess eFFl could use that strategy too on a pyro.

I will have to try mumble. Vent has speak to talk too. The reason people use push to talk is not that the feature was missing... They use it so they can choose what to say over the mic.

Hehe who, remember we had a certain CSS player who used speak to talk... which was fine except when it was an intense time of the game his breathing would increase (he was a larger man) and it would trigger the talk so we'd all hear in vent for minutes on end the sound of breathing only. Ahhh good times.

I can't believe you just openly make fun on Xtinct like that... you know he occasionally reads these forums, right?
